River City is on the quest to become a multiethnic community of Jesus followers that transforms the city of Chicago through worship, reconciliation, and neighborhood development.

Directions and Parking: free street parking is available on Grand. Additional parking is available at the Cameron Elementary School parking lot, located on Lawndale Ave., just south of Potomac Ave. (the school’s street address is 1234 N. Monticello Ave.) MAP

We look forward to you joining us Sunday! We are in a new series titled, Bearing Witness: Testifying to life in a new year. The series will be led by & Rev Val Tao & Rev Mark Tao! Throughout the six weeks of this series, we would like to highlight six different aspects of witness that help us to testify the life of God that is available to us so we can live with purpose and joy.  Bearing witness is about a kind of revelation in community which helps us to (in the words of M Shawn Copeland), "make present what has been absent".  In this new year, what are some commitments we want to make present- to give proactive attention so that God can be given the glory in and through us, and so that we can participate in that divine life.

 

Worship

The good news of the Gospel is that though we are sinners who have broken relationship with God, through the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ we now have access to the presence of God. Worship is our response to that reality.

 

Reconciliation

When we experience the love of God in a personal way, we become “compelled” to move out into the world with a sense of mission. This orientation of mission can be described in a number of different ways, but the word that the Apostle Paul most commonly used was reconciliation:

 

Neighborhood Development

We believe we are to join what God has already been doing in our neighborhood and to learn from and invest into that neighborhood. Humboldt Park is the place where our vision and ministry is rooted, and from there we seek the shalom of our neighborhood, our city, and our world.

There has been so much fantastic progress on the lot next door as the space becomes a place of safety and joy for the kids of RCITY, as well as an asset to all of us at River City. While R CITY grants cover most of the materials, donations are still needed to cover the costs for this fantastic space. Please consider giving to this transformational project!
